I AM directed by Secretary Sir Edward Grey to inform you that on receipt of your letter of the 23rd ultimo regarding the Burmah-China frontier north of Manang-Pum a telegram on the subject, copy of which is inclosed, was dispatched to His Majesty's Chargé d'Affaires at Peking.
A reply, a copy of which is also inclosed, has now been received from Mr. Carnegie, and I am to inform you that, if the Secretary of State for India concurs, Sir E. Grey proposes to approve the suggestion that the communication to the Chinese Government should be deferred until His Majesty's Government are in possession of their views regarding the proposed Tengyueh Railway.
